20+ years of engineering experience, direct-to-consumer pricing, and zero compromises. That's the PERGOLUX standard, now in our awning too.
Exceptional value for money is part of our DNA. By designing smarter, manufacturing at scale, and selling directly to homeowners, we deliver premium outdoor products with exceptional quality and value.

Yes — PERGOLUX awnings are designed with DIY installation in mind - this is at the core of our DNA. If you have 1–2 people to help with lifting and positioning, you can complete the installation yourself by following the step-by-step guides, video tutorials, and the PERGOLUX app. Looking for professional installation? Most installations are completed in under an hour. The process covers measuring and marking the wall, mounting the wall brackets, lifting the cassette into place, and plugging in the power cable. No specialist tools or trade skills are required.
You do not need a professional workshop. The standard toolkit is:
2 sturdy A-frame ladders
A drill (rotary for hollow brick, hammer for concrete)
Appropriate masonry drill bits (14mm or 16mm depending on wall type)
Socket wrench or ratchet set
6mm Allen key / hex key
Cartridge / caulking gun (for chemical resin and silicone)
Long spirit level, measuring tape, and pencil
Digital wall scanner (to check for hidden cables and pipes)
We recommend 2 to 3 adults. Drilling and bracket setup can be managed by one person, but lifting the cassette — which weighs between 45kg and 76kg depending on size — safely requires a team.
PERGOLUX provides the heavy-duty wall brackets (designed for M12 bolts), but because every house is built differently, the wall anchors must be purchased separately from your local DIY store. Use the table below to know exactly what to buy based on your awning size and wall material. How many mounting brackets and anchors you need, depends on the width of your awning. For awnings that are 5m wide or wider, the awning comes with 3 mounting brackets and you need 12 anchors. For awnings that are less than 5m wide, the awning comes with 2 mounting brackets and you need 8 anchors.
The fastener depends on your wall material. Here is a quick reference:
Concrete: M12 × 120mm Expansion Bolt
Solid Brick: M12 × 160mm Threaded Rod + Chemical Resin
Sand-Lime Brick: M12 × 160mm Threaded Rod + Chemical Resin
Hollow Masonry: M12 × 160mm Threaded Rod + Resin + Sieve Sleeve
Timber Frame: 12 × 120mm Heavy-Duty Wood Screws
External Insulation (WDVS): M12 Distance Anchor (e.g. 12/110) + Resin
Concrete Ceiling / Overhang: M12 × 110mm Expansion Bolt or Threaded Rod + Resin
Aerated Concrete (Ytong): Engineer review recommended
Yes. If your home has external insulation, your installer will use specialised stand-off fixings designed for insulated walls. These anchors pass through the insulation and are secured into the solid wall behind it, so the awning is supported by the structure of your home, not the insulation itself. This prevents the insulation from being crushed or damaged when installed correctly.
Yes. Hollow brick walls require specialised fixings rather than standard masonry bolts. Depending on your wall construction, your installer will use the appropriate anchoring system to ensure a secure installation without damaging the brickwork.
Three simple steps can save you a lot of hassle. First, look for the obvious signs: electrical cables and plumbing pipes usually run straight up and down, or across from power points, light switches, taps and drains. Second, check your home's plans if you have them. Third, use a wall scanner (easy to buy or hire from most hardware stores) to check where you plan to drill. Spending five minutes checking now can save you from a costly mistake later.
For the best clearance and shade, we recommend installing your awning around 2.6–3.0m above ground level. This provides plenty of headroom while allowing the awning to extend at the correct angle. Your installer will position it to suit your home and ensure doors and windows can still open freely.
Yes. PERGOLUX awnings can be installed on either a wall or a ceiling, provided the mounting surface is structurally sound. Concrete, solid brick and structural timber are all suitable when installed with the correct fixings. Your installer will determine the best mounting option for your home.
Yes. The pitch can be adjusted both during installation and afterwards. This lets you fine-tune the amount of shade, improve water runoff during light rain, or adapt the angle as the sun changes throughout the year.
No. PERGOLUX awnings are plug-and-play and come with a long power cable that plugs straight into a standard outdoor power point. No hardwiring is required for a typical installation.
Yes. PERGOLUX awnings are engineered for outdoor use and are weather protected. We recommend plugging the awning into a weatherproof outdoor power point, just as you would with any outdoor appliance.
No worries. Every PERGOLUX awning includes a manual crank, so you can still open or close it if there's a power outage.
Not if it's installed properly. The cable can be routed neatly along brickwork or hidden inside slim, paintable cable conduit, making it blend in with your home.
See a real example here:
No. The full-cassette design completely encloses the fabric and arms when retracted, protecting them from dirt, rain and the elements. Simply close it when you're finished, and it's ready whenever you need it again.
PERGOLUX awnings are certified to Wind Resistance Class 2, meaning they are structurally tested to remain stable in normal residential winds up to 38 km/h. PERGOLUX awnings are tested for normal residential wind conditions. If strong winds are forecast, we recommend retracting the awning. For extra peace of mind, you can also add an optional wind sensor that automatically closes the awning if conditions become too windy.
Yes. The 280 g/m² polyester fabric with PU coating efficiently repels water, meaning light rain will not disrupt your plans. During heavy rain or storms, we recommend retracting the awning to prevent water from pooling on the fabric.
No. When retracted, the fabric and arms are fully enclosed inside the aluminium cassette, helping keep everything secure and quiet.
PERGOLUX AuroWeave™ fabric is specifically engineered to resist mould. The PU-treated surface is water-repellent yet breathable, which prevents moisture from being trapped between layers when the fabric is rolled up. The non-stick surface finish stops pollen and organic matter from embedding in the fibres, the main food source for mould, meaning a simple rinse with a garden hose keeps the fabric clean. The full-cassette enclosure adds a further layer of protection by shielding the rolled fabric from damp conditions all winter.
PERGOLUX AuroWeave™ polyester undergoes 400 hours of laboratory Xenon-arc UV testing, equivalent to several years of harsh outdoor exposure. It achieves Level 4 color fastness, while most awnings only reach Level 2 or 3. In practice this means consistent colour across the entire surface with no uneven fading. The full-cassette housing also shields the fabric from UV whenever the awning is retracted, dramatically extending its visual life compared to open-system awnings.
Think about the area you'd like to shade, not just the wall you're mounting it to. We generally recommend choosing an awning that extends slightly beyond your main outdoor seating area, giving you comfortable shade throughout the day as the sun moves.
Choose a width that fits comfortably within your balcony, leaving a little clearance at each end. Your awning should also extend without projecting beyond the balcony edge.
PERGOLUX awnings are built to last and backed by our warranty:
10-year warranty on the structural frame and mounting brackets
5-year warranty on the motor and moving components
2-year warranty on the fabric, controls, electronics and accessories
PERGOLUX awnings are designed to be repairable, not replaced.
The motor can be replaced without replacing the entire awning. In the meantime, you can still operate the awning manually using the supplied hand crank.
For private homes, a standard awning installation typically does not require a building permit. If you live in an apartment building, a property governed by a building management company, or a rental home, you may need approval before modifying the exterior facade.
